Environmental Performances

Producing clinker, a precursor of cement, requires intensive use of natural raw materials and energy. It also results in emissions to the atmosphere, the most significant being carbon dioxide (CO2). That is why eco-efficiency is at the core of our business - producing more cement while using fewer resources and producing less waste and pollution per ton.

Our commitment is to continually improve our environmental performance and provide positive contributions to our business.

To support this commitment, we have developed and implemented an Environmental Policy enclosed in the Environmental Management System ISO 14001:2004.

Cementarnica USJE AD as an existing installation has prepared an Application for obtaining Permit for Adjustment with the Operational Plan and within the legal term has filed the Application to the relevant authority for consideration thus starting the procedure of obtaining Permit for adjustment with the operational plan as per the said Law.

Cementarnica USJE AD cares for the environment and continuously undertakes investments in facilities and equipment that will provide high environment protection. Integration in the community and good relations with the neighborhood are the key strategic objective of Cementarnica USJE AD. Usje traditionally pays particular attention to the respect and trust of their employees, as well as to the maintaining enduring and sound relations built on mutual respect and active partnership with the community.

Having this in view, a significant investment in material and human resources has been made. Some of the considerable contributions in this aspect are:  

  • Installation of bag filters on the cement mills 4, 5 and 6 in 1999.
  • Removal of the electro-static and installation of the bag filter instead on the line 3 and the reconstruction of the clinker cooling system of the rotary kiln No. 3 in 2000.
  • Installation of vertical petrol coke mill and reconstruction of the rotary kiln No. 4 clinker cooling system in 2001.
  • Removal of the electro-static and installation of the bag filter instead in the line 4 in 2002.
